Even though he has not played since Oct. 3 due to a groin muscle injury and he is listed as questionable for Sunday's game at Tennessee, Clinton Portis is expected to start against the Titans, according to a Redskins source.
Earlier in the week, Redskins coach Mike Shanahan said Portis would play, but the surprise is that he now will start.
How long and how much the Redskins will be able to use Portis remains uncertain, but the team was encouraged with how the running back looked in practice this week.
While Portis is returning, the Redskins will be without starting defensive backs LaRon Landry and Carlos Rogers.
Landry has an Achilles injury, Rogers a hamstring problem and each was listed as questionable.
But the Redskins decided Sunday morning that neither would be able to play against the Titans. Reed Doughty is expected to start in place of Landry, Phillip Buchanon in place of Rogers.
