Aishwarya Rai and Hrithik Roshan: Romeo and Juliet of Guzaarish

Sunday, 21 November 2010

Guzaarish, the Sanjay Leela Bhansali film that hits theatres on 19th November, is spawning headlines in gossip galleries as its release date draws nearer.

And with vigorous and aggressive promotions keeping everyone on his or her toe, director Bhansali is leaving no stone unturned to ensure the purity of his film’s characters.

Hrithik and Aishwarya are the two chief protagonists of the film and the romance between them has been presented in a very chaste and platonic way. There is subtlety and complete purity in their romance. Sanjay was determined to manifest their love in such a passionate and pristine way that he incorporated dialogues from Franco Zeffirelli’s 1968 classic Romeo and Juliet.

That film was a runaway hit and catapulted the actors Leonard Whiting and Olivia Hussey to meteoric fame and stardom. That film stands as a benchmark today for ultimate romance and Bhansali ensured that he used some original dialogues from that film.

Even the trailers have shown some extremely passionate romance brewing between the paraplegic Hrithik and his caring nurse Aishwarya. Sanjay is presenting their eternal love as his homage to the 1968’s Romeo and Juliet and he is happy with what he has done.

So, if you thought that Dhoom 2 or Jodha Akbar was the pinnacle of Hrithik-Aishwarya love, then watch out for the chastity in Guzaarish. Hrithik and Aish are the new Romeo and Juliet of Bollywood cinema.
